I am 57 years old, trained initially as a geologist and spent about 15 years teaching and researching in that field  before moving into HE management and now the private sector.  The decision to pursue a structured programme in the creative arts is a big step for someone from the technical fields and the Art of Photography will be a challenge.  My student number is Richard512149 and my profile in the OCA is RichardT.

Photography has been an ever present interest for almost 50 years but in more recent times I have felt the need to develop a more structured understanding of the art that will allow me to move beyond taking better and better technical pictures of ‘things’ to photography as a means of engaging creatively with the world and as a means of self expression.

My main photographic interests to date have been geologically themed subjects and underwater photography.
